Apple’s new ad campaign angers me. Anne, the new Apple customer says, “What I’ve known in the past is pain and frustration.”
I am a former Mac person. I know OS 9 and X like I grew up on them (because I did). My whole family is a Mac family, and neither of my parents could comprehend my choice to buy a netbook that could not run a pirated version of Snow Leopard.
So, above, I have posted a screenshot of my 22” Windows 7 desktop, coming out of my 10” netbook. It’s really really cool. The whole thing is awesome. It has Picasa (which a Mac doesn’t), it has Aero (which is more novel and just as cool as Aqua and its successors), it is very, very fast, and you know what? It’s crashing less for me than OS 10.3 did.
Really, now Apple. You can’t mock Windows for being faulty anymore. If we’re judging based on the past, Microsoft is in the green to produce an ad saying “Apple products have inflated prices for the hardware; plus they don’t sell that much so clearly they’re not good enough for the mainstream.”
Because it’s just not cool to use outmoded operating systems to judge a totally new one. (Also, I am a Windows user who is tech-savvy, design-oriented, and able to afford an Apple product if I wanted. But I don’t. So hah!)
omg windows 7 looks SEXY!
